Our History
Michael J. LaViano, a third generation master jeweler and Swiss-trained watchmaker, established a fledgling business in Westwood, New Jersey in 1945. Since the store’s inception, MJ's dedication was to quality, providing his clients with the finest products available regardless of price. Since 1945, the business has evolved into one of the most respected independent jewelry stores in the country and is still family owned to this day.In Fall 2006, LaViano Jewelers experienced its largest expansion ever, opening a second store in Englewood, New Jersey. Despite the growth, the same values and traditions remain the cornerstone of the entire business and the opening of a second store allows LaViano Jewelers to service a larger, more diverse client base. LaViano Jewelers is an authorized representative for over 20 timepiece brands including some of the most highly regarded products available in the world today. LaViano Jewelers also represents many designer jewelry lines. But the mainstay of their business is the one-of-a-kind, custom made pieces featuring gem quality, G.I.A. certified diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and exotic stones such as Chrysoberyl cats' eye. There are many people selling jewelry today. However, there are very few jewelers who offer the quality and selection found at LaViano Jewelers. |
